Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®

Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® are hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally found in the body, where it binds to water molecules to maintain naturally youthful volume in the skin.

As the body’s hyaluronic acid supply declines with age, wrinkles form. These include the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, parentheses lines, and perioral lip lines. Additionally, the cheeks become gaunt and hollow and the lips become thin. With injections of Restylane® or JUVÉDERM® fillers, these aging signs can be reversed, resulting in smooth skin with youthful plumpness.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®

Patients looking to restore youthful volume to their hollow cheeks can come in for JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® injections. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® is a specialized filler in the JUVÉDERM® line of products that rejuvenates and contours the cheeks.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® is composed of highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid made using Vycross technology. This allows its results to last for up to 2 years, longer than most other filler options on the market.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR JUVÉDERM® OR RESTYLANE® FILLERS?

Ideal candidates for JUVÉDERM® or Restylane® fillers are patients who are age 21 or older and looking for a minimally invasive way to restore the youthful look of their skin. It will be important to have realistic expectations in terms of the fillers’ results.

Patients with severe skin infections or skin allergies may not be ideal candidates for these filler options. Additionally, women who are pregnant are not typically good JUVÉDERM® or Restylane® filler candidates.

THE JUVÉDERM®/ RESTYLANE® TREATMENT PROCESS

The JUVÉDERM®/Restylane® treatment process is quite simple and usually only takes around 15 minutes to complete. The skin of the area is cleansed of any products. The injection sites are then carefully marked to ensure precision. Finally, the injections of the chosen filler are delivered to the marked injection sites.

Recovery

Injectable treatments such as fillers and BOTOX are popular in part because they involve little to no downtime. Common side effects following the procedures include localized swelling and bruising, redness, and tenderness in the treatment area. But these typically resolve fairly quickly and most patients go about their normal activities after being treated.
