What to Expect After Breast Surgery
Breast enhancement is typically performed on an outpatient basis, going home on the day of surgery, under general anesthesia. Recovery usually involves a short period of activity restriction that often allows for an early return to work (about a week) and most routine activities, including driving. Postoperative pain control is based on use of anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant medications, with most patients not requiring any narcotic after their procedure. Bra support may be maintained for several weeks postoperatively with specific guidance from Dr. Strock and his staff. Bra support recommendations to enable extreme exercise will be outlined during the recovery period.
Cost of Breast Procedures
The cost of breast surgery can vary greatly from one patient to another since every breast enhancement procedure performed by Dr. Strock is specifically planned to the needs of each individual patient and situation. Pricing is determined by the surgical techniques required, the complexity and length of the procedure, and whether you will combine your breast surgery with other plastic surgery procedures.
Dr. Strock will develop a specific treatment plan for achieving your desired results based on the information discussed during your consultation. During the consultation, he will speak with you about your desired breast contours and other issues that you would like to address. He will review your medical history and perform an examination with his patient coordinator present to document specific issues that may exist.
All these factors will help Dr. Strock to determine the safest and most effective surgical approach for you. Once he has finalized your treatment plan, the costs associated with your procedure will be discussed with his patient coordinator. Financing options are available if needed.

What Are the Different Types of Breast Implants and How Do They Compare?
There are four main types of breast implants. These include saline implants, silicone implants, gummy bear implants, and fat transfer.
Saline implants consist of a silicone outer shell filled with a sterile saline (saltwater) solution. They are inserted empty, allowing for smaller incisions. They are also adjustable in size during surgery. However, some patients may find these implants feel less natural than silicone implants.
On the other hand, the popular silicone implant is comprised of an outer silicone shell that is pre-filled with a sticky, thick substance that mimics the feel of natural breasts, with less risk of rippling or wrinkling. One consideration is that they may require a slightly larger incision due to being pre-filled.
Gummy bear implants, or cohesive-gel implants, feature an outer silicone shell filled with a thicker, form-stable silicone gel. They maintain their shape well, offering a more stable and natural appearance over time, but they typically require a textured surface to prevent rotation within the breast pocket.
Finally, fat transfer involves, unlike traditional implants, harvesting fat from one area of the body through liposuction and injecting it into the breasts to enhance size and shape. This can provide a subtle increase in breast volume using the body’s natural tissue but may require multiple sessions for desired results. This is a more viable option for patients looking for a modest enhancement.
In general, saline implants require the smallest incision. This is because they aren’t filled with the saline solution until adequately placed in the breast pocket. On the other hand, silicone implants are preferred when a more natural feel is of the utmost importance to the patient. Gummy bear implants are more resilient at maintaining their shape than saline or silicone implants, which can help to create a more natural-looking breast.

How do you determine the appropriate size and shape of a breast implant?
It’s important to note that breast implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Determining the appropriate implant for you all starts with measuring your proportions and determining your surgery goals. The cup size of the breast you would like to upgrade to will play a big role in determining your ideal implant size.
Dr. Strock will take measurements, such as your shoulder width, hip width, rib cage shape, breast width, and waist-to-hip circumference. Using this proportional information, he can determine the appropriate shape to create an ideal appearance.

How Do Breast Procedures Impact Future Breastfeeding and Mammograms?
When you have breast implants installed, they are specifically placed between your existing breast and the chest wall. This helps to avoid any interferences with your mammary glands or breast ducts where milk is discharged. Therefore, breast implants aren’t going to impact your ability to breastfeed in the future.
However, getting a mammogram can be more challenging. This is because the imagery won’t go through the saline or silicone. The radiologist will likely have to take more images than usual to capture all of your breast tissue.

How is a Breast Lift Different from Breast Augmentation, and Can They Be Combined?
Breast augmentation and breast lift are two common procedures for enhancing the breasts. Augmentation involves adding implants or fat to increase cup size, while a lift addresses drooping breast tissue. Our practice can combine both procedures for comprehensive enhancement.

How Long Do the Results of Breast Surgeries Typically Last?
While both breast implants and lifts are considered to be longer-lasting surgeries, they’re not permanent. Most implants will last for between 10 and 20 years. The result of a breast lift can last between 10 and 15 years. -
Can Breast Implants Affect the Detection of Breast Cancer?
Silicone and saline breast implants affect breast cancer screening. During a typical mammogram, it’s common for radiologists to take many more pictures of those who have implants, as the implant can obstruct normal viewing of the breast tissue. -
How Often Should Breast Implants Be Replaced or Checked?
In general, it’s recommended that you have your breast implants checked every two to three years following your initial breast enhancement surgery. Your implants will likely need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years. Replacement may be necessary sooner if a problem has developed. -
