Breast Enhancement
Breast enhancement refers to a group of procedures that improves the appearance
of your breasts. Breast augmentation, also called breast enlargement,
is performed by placement of breast implants to increase volume and enhance shape.
You may choose between silicone gel and saline breast implants as you consider breast
enlargement. You may choose to have
Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation, an approach that Dr. Strock
has offered for many years, which allows for your breast implants to be placed with
no incisions on your breasts. Breast lift is performed in selected patients
to regain a youthful breast shape by reconfiguring the skin envelope of the breast
and repositioning the nipple to a more aesthetic location. Breast lift is also performed
to reduce breast size and volume in selected patients. Many patients seeking breast
lift also request augmentation, which can often be performed as a combined procedure,
depending upon the preoperative situation and postoperative goals. Breast lift with
augmentation can frequently be performed using a minimal incision vertical or periareolar
approach, without use of the horizontal incision used in traditional breast lift.

Breast implant replacement or other secondary procedures are sometimes needed
for patients who experience implant rupture, increased firmness (capsular contracture),
or severe gravitational effects which may change the position of a breast implant
over time relative to the overlying breast tissue. Secondary procedures may also
be needed if the aesthetic goals for breast size and shape change over time. Breast
lift can frequently be needed at the time of implant replacement, depending upon
whether the breast tissue has maintained correct position over the implant over
time.
Breast enhancement is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
Recovery usually involves a short period of activity restriction that usually allows
for an early return to work and most routine activities, including driving, usually
in about one week. Bra support may be maintained for several weeks postoperatively.
